Shutting Down the e-Jihaders

Found a good quick read over at the Washington Times about bloggers that are tracking down terrorism sympathisers with websites and getting them shut down.

Ordinary Americans are tracking down U.S. Web sites used by al Qaeda and jihadi sympathizers and then using the Internet to persuade the service providers to snuff out the sites.

A perfect storm of complaints forced several ISPs to shut down Web sites just days before al Qaeda released a tape of Osama bin Laden in August, says Aaron Weisburd, director of the Society for Internet Research and host of the Web site Haganah.us. He released a list of 19 pro-jihad Web sites, some of which were shut down in August.
-more here-

Last month a ran acrossed a website promoting sharia law, I'd assume it was promoting it in the US since the website was hosted at the University of Michigan.

Here's a link via Google cache.

Before being taken offline the site had over 58,000 visitors. The site was created by a gentleman named Luqman Abdul-Sabour, I guess he was a student at University of Michigan at one time. The site had link to a few propaganda leaflets including one about Hezbollah. So I sent an email to a few choice people at the University of Michigan:

Hello,

The reason I am writing is about some content that is hosted on your school's web server. Here's a link to the content.

I am not sure if you know the meaning to the ideology of Khilafah, here's a link in case you are unsure.

I believe this content is inappropriate and should not be hosted on a state college's web server at a tax supported state school. The call for the destruction of our government and the oppression of no-believers is not protected speech. I believe this content should be removed and the owner should move it to a privately funded web server.

The disclosure:

does not protect you in this case.

Just to inform you, I have brought this to the attention to a few media outlets as well as some of your state's senators.

Feel free to email with any discussions or questions you might have about this issue. If I do not have an answer for you, I am sure one of my colleagues will be able to answer.
