Memo: FBI was watching Arthur Miller
NEW YORK (AP) -- In the summer of 1956, playwright Arthur Miller married screen idol Marilyn Monroe in a Jewish ceremony, an event of high-level gossip for much of the world and of high-level curiosity for the U.S. government.
"An anonymous telephone call" has been placed to the New York Daily News, an FBI report notes at the time. The caller stated that the "religious" wedding -- Miller was Jewish and Monroe had converted -- was an obvious "cover up" for Miller, who "had been and still was a member of the CP (Communist Party) and was their cultural front man." Monroe also "had drifted into the Communist Party orbit."

Greedy Americans
U.S. nears charity giving record in response to natural disasters
NEW YORK -- The urgent needs created by three major natural disasters -- the tsunami in Asia, earthquake in Pakistan and hurricanes Rita, Katrina and Wilma -- drove American philanthropy to its highest level since the end of the technology boom, a new study showed.
The report released today by the Giving USA foundation estimates that in 2005 Americans gave $260.28 billion, a rise of 6.1 percent, which approaches the inflation-adjusted high of $260.53 billion that was reached in 2000.

For whom the Bell tolls

It seems Screech (Dustin Diamond) has gotten himself into a sort of a pickle. He's about to loose his house and he needs to raise $250,000. So what would any logical child star with nary a skill do? He starts a website hawking t-shirts that have a picture of him holding a sign that says, "Save My House". God forbid he cowboy the F up and get a normal job like the rest of us suckers. I do have to admit, last night, I was feeling a bit sorry for him and thought about sending him some money. All that changed when my wife said, "You're not going to buy one of those shirts from Screech are you"? The look on her face let me know that helping him out was a dumb idea. My wife is and will always be my voice of reason.

The good old boys club - Ain't for boys, no more.
Just as I predicted, Cynthia McKinney played the race card and as usual, it turned out to be the trump card. These days the good old boys club, isn't your grandfather's good old boys club. In this new version of the old club, women are the good old boys and if you happen to be a minority, it's the icing on the cake.
I guess it's okay to assult a law enforcement officer if you're a member of the club. She's not done, give her some time. She do something again, she thinks she's above the law now.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A grand jury has declined to indict Rep. Cynthia McKinney who was accused of punching a Capitol Police officer in March.

Quick question: How do you use nuclear technology that is for "peaceful, power purposes only" to defend your country?

It seems Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar had a little Freudian Slip today, oops.
Iran's defense minister on Thursday vowed that his country would "use nuclear defense as a potential" if "threatened by any power."
With a suprised look on his face, Mostafa's eyes dart about the room. "Umm, did I say that outloud"?
Hmm, I wonder what he's talking about? Could it have something to do with all of the nuclear facilities they have hidden underground all over his country?

Hooters sells Dom?
I had no idea. I mean, there's nothing wrong with Hooters, Their wings are delicious. I've eaten there before. I've even had dinner with my wife there. Long before she was my wife, of course. But when did they start serving Dom Perion and who are they trying to cater too? Fitty? (I can't believe I just called Fifty-Cent, Fitty)
Who am I to deny a hurricane Katrina victims a chance to get their MFin' drank on?
I'm glad my tax dollars did comething good for those in need. And Kane West had the nerve to say that George Bush didn't care about black people on national television. If FEMA threw a billion dollars out the window by playing willie-nillie with the money, I can't even begin to imagine how much was given out in total.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Hooters restaurant chain has a $200 check ready for FEMA, reimbursement for a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne bought with hurricane relief money last year.
Who am I to deny a hurricane Katrina victims a chance to get their MFin' drank on?
The GAO, the investigative arm of Congress, found at least $1 billion in disaster relief payments by the Federal Emergency Management Agency were improper and potentially fraudulent because the recipients provided incomplete or incorrect information when they registered for assistance.
