McCain Jumps Ahead of Obama in Latest Poll

WASHINGTON — John McCain bested Barack Obama 50-46 percent among registered voters in the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, jumping 11 points over his previous showing and taking his biggest lead since January.

McCain’s showing is credited in part to a well-received Republican Convention last week fueled largely by the surprise pick of McCain’s vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin. The numbers out Monday show McCain wiped out a 7-point lead Obama received after the Democratic convention two weeks ago.

The numbers are drawing scorn in the Chicago headquarters of Obama for President.
Up or down, we believe national polls are meaningless,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton told FOX News.

Right. Bill, you weren't saying that last week when Barry was up now were you?

Obama: Surge Succeeded Beyond ‘Wildest Dreams’

The troop surge in Iraq has been more successful than anyone could have imagined, Barack Obama conceded Thursday in his first-ever interview on FOX News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.”

As recently as July, the Democratic presidential candidate declined to rate the surge a success, but said it had helped reduce violence in the country. On Thursday, Obama acknowledged the 2007 increase in U.S. troops has benefited the Iraqi people.

“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”

However, he added, the country has not had enough “political reconciliation” and Iraqis still have not taken responsibility for their country.

Maybe Obama better have a chat with Reid, San Fran Nan, Big Teddy and Murtha.

Jack Cafferty is either a liar or an idiot

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say both. Yesterday he did a piece that was posted on cnn.com. The link is here.

Here's the first paragraph:

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Russia invades Georgia and President Bush goes on vacation. Our president has spent one-third of his entire two terms in office either at Camp David, Maryland, or at Crawford, Texas, on vacation.

I stopped reading after that. The fact that Jack says he spent 1/3 of his presidency away from the white house is true, but not surely not accurate. Jack knows as well as I that those are working vacations and not true "off the grid" vacations which he is hoping most of his readers will think. This seems to be a common tactic these days used to lie, but not really lie. Lie by omission.

Dan Froomkin of the WaPo says:

"Bush's aides go to great pains to point out that even during his frequent getaways from the office, he continues to do some, if not a lot, of work. He receives daily national security briefings, signs documents and sometimes holds teleconferences."

So can we really call this a vacation. No, these are not true vacations because the President is still working. He's just telecommuting. I wonder if Jack every telecommutes?

Why Does the Bookstore at Barrak Obama's Church Sell NOI Books?

There's alot of hype going around about the Obama's Chicago church. From what I've read he started attending this church right out of college and has been a devout member for the last 20 or so years. Trinity United Church of Christ sounds like any other church, from the name it sounds pretty normal to me. The senior pastor of the Church Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. has said some pretty outrageous things in the past, here are a few pearls of his wisdom:

On the Sunday after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Mr. Wright said the attacks were a consequence of violent American policies. Four years later he wrote that the attacks had proved that “people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West went on its merry way of ignoring Black concerns.”

"The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for over 40 years now. Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community and wake up Americans concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism."

And who can forget this little gem. W a r o n I r a q I Q T e s t

You get the idea. I was checking out the online bookstore at the Church's website http://www.tucc.org/store/ and I found this:

Breaking the Chains of Psychological Slavery

A book written by Na'im Akbar. You say who is Mr. Akbar? Only a card carrying member of the Nation of Islam. Yes, that Nation of Islam, the same people that believe that "White people" were created by a mad scientist named Yakub. Don't believe me? Sounds crazy, like crazy in a racist kinda wacko way.

According to the Nation of Islam (NOI), Yakub (also spelled Yacub or Yakob), was an evil scientist responsible for creating the white race — a race of devils, in their view. Yakub created white people by a process of grafting the "black germ" to a "white germ" from the original black population of the world. It took 600 years for Yakub and his successors to fully whiten his creations. This was achieved under a despotic regime on the island of Patmos. The reasons for Yakub's actions are unclear. According to NOI doctrine, his progeny were destined to rule for 6,000 years before the original black peoples of the world regained dominance, a process that began in 1914.

So let me get this straight. You guys want me to vote for a guy that has been going to a church that is in cahoots with the NOI and sells their racists books at it's book store? Think again chumps, Yakub didn't create no dummy.

p.s. Oprah Winfrey goes to this church too.

Pakistan Criticizes Obama on Comments

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan criticized U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday for saying that, if elected, he might order military strikes against terrorists hiding in this Islamic country.

Top Pakistan officials said Obama's comment was irresponsible and likely made for political gain in the race for the Democratic nomination.

"It's a very irresponsible statement, that's all I can say," Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khusheed Kasuri told AP Television News. "As the election campaign in America is heating up we would not like American candidates to fight their elections and contest elections at our expense."

Another presidential hopeful, Colorado Republican Tom Tancredo, also came under criticism Friday by a Pakistani official after saying that the best way to deter a nuclear terrorist attack on the United States would be to threaten to retaliate by bombing the holiest Islamic sites of Mecca and Medina.

Tancredo spoke at a town hall meeting in Osceola, Iowa on Tuesday.

In Washington, the State Department disavowed Tancredo's remarks, which some diplomats fear could damage U.S. ties with the Muslim world and hurt efforts to counter Islamist extremism.
